California Courts Rule That Bratz Dolls Are Illegal


In what might be the single most significant legal ruling of the century, short of that Red Riding Hood trial we reported on earlier in the week — Mattel, the company that makes Barbie and other plastic, pre-teen dolls — has won a court fight in California to have rival “Bratz” dolls removed from the market. The company alleges (and the courts agree) that these dolls were imagined while their creator still worked at Mattel. Somewhere a small child is crying a single tear.
